The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical practice experiences of 8 nursing students with low self-efficacy before and after their practice, and to discuss the effective way of teaching the students. The major characteristics of the students with low self-efficacy were that they were having difficulties to make good human relationships, and unpleasant clinical experience, underestimating their ability, and setting unachievable goals. In addition, uncertain understanding of advice from a teacher and teachers' negative attitude towards the students would be associated with a decrease in their self-efficacy, while teachers' supportive attitude, adequate and appropriate suggestions to the students would increase their self-efficacy. In conclusion, the desirable teachers' attitude toward the students with low self-efficacy was 1) guiding the students by using more understandable suggestions, 2)giving the students more practical advice for nursing care, 3) accomplishing the role or a clinical nursing model, and 4) approving the effort and achievement of the students.
