Various carbon-alloyed materials were produced using cup-stacked carbon nanotubes (CSNTy); CSNTs were reacted with AsF5+F2 to produce ‘graphite’ intercalation compounds with nestled hexafluoroarsenate (AsF6) anions, novel C/C composites consisting of pitch- and PAN-based fibers and COPNA resin were prepared with addition of CSNTs to enhance mechanical properties of the composite materials, and CSNs were added to NBR to enhance the durability of the rubber.
