Chinese cabbage, cabbage, radish and lettuce we major agricultural products of Nagano prefecture, and we main resources of dietary fiber. Although many breeding are progressing on these vegetables, less effort dealt dietary fiber as index. Because long and tedious work is needed to determine the content of dietary fiber in every F2 progeny for breeding, it has not been realistic to breed vegetables changed in quality, and quantity, of dietary fiber. In this work, molecular technology and mapping techniques will be used for the effort with DNA markers closely linked to the genes responsible for the content of dietary fiber.
