This paper summarized geological result of the 21st Nojiri-ko excavation carried out in March, 2016. In the 21st Nojiri-ko Excavation, the Nojiri-ko Formation around theⅠdistrict in the Tategahana Excavation Site was observed in almost the same place as well as the north side of the 20th Nojiri-ko Excavation site. It was confirmed that the Nojiriko formation in theⅠdistrict described by Geological Research Group for Nojiri-ko Excavation and Volcanic Ash Research Group for Nojiri-ko Excavation(2016)continued in the north side. Mudflow deposits were observed under the Nojiriko Formation in theⅠ―C―3 andⅠ―D―4 grids. This deposits contained hornblende porphyry similar to the gravel included in the Tategahana sand member discussed by Nakamura and Takeshita(2017). Therefore, a large amount of gravel from the Tategahana sand member may have been washed away from mudflow deposits. In theⅠ―C―3 grid, a fine grain ash layer, which is a key bed of T 5 unit, was collected and its sand grain composition was clarified.
