@article{oai:soar-ir.repo.nii.ac.jp:00001016, author = {橋本, 功}, journal = {人文科学論集}, month = {Mar}, note = {This is a tentative study of the development of the progressive form, from the viewpoint of the interinfluence or interplay of these three constructions; the passive, the be-perfect and the progressive. This is because they all derived from one and the same construction, that is, NP+beon/wesan/weorpan+participle, where the participle, present or past, functioned as an adjective, so that each of them might have developmental phenomena similar to the other two or various linguistic phenomena which might stimulate the development of the other constructions. On the basis of this hypothesis, there are discussed mainly the reason why the progressive construction began to be used suddenly with a high frequency and the functions similar to those inthe Present Day English during the period 1700 to 1800 and the reason why the stative verbs came into use in the progressive construction in the Present Day English period. Rather independently, linguistic backgrounds where the type 'He is being a fool' appeared in the 19th century are dealt with in the last section., Article, 人文科学論集 24: 69-78 (1990)}, pages = {69--78}, title = {進行形の発達について : 受動形及び完了形との比較論的観点から}, volume = {24}, year = {1990} }
