With Marubakaidoes, Yamanashies, peaches and gooseberries, each top growth begins from early April, but with chestnuts, English walnuts and Japanease walnuts, it begins from mid-April. New gooseberry shoots elongated vigorously till mid-May, with Marubakaidoes, till mid-June, with peaches, cbestnuts and English walnuts, till mid-July, with Yamanashies, till mid-August, with Japanease walnuts, till early September. In the poriod, the temporary stopping on the growth of Yamanashies took place at mid June, and with Japanease walnuts, it took place at mid-July. The water content of roots was high at the growing period, and was low at the rest period. Especially, it was highest at July and August which drought might take place in Japan. It was observed that the total nitrogen content of roots decreased remarkably at the latter of the growing period and it increased gradually little by little as the rest period advanced untill the preceding time that the sprouting was found. The specific gravity of the root-tissue powder increased temporarily in the early Spring and decreased remarkably as the budding and growing advanced. Thereafter the specific gravity of tissue powder increased as the growth stopped and conspicuously became higher about at the leaffall period. It decreased obviously in the winter, but it became higher than before the budding time. Therefore, two mountaines of the specific gravity of the tissue powder were maked at both the leaf-fall period and the preceding time of budding. Changes of the reducing sugar in roots were low from beginning to midst of the length growth period-about from April to June. Thereafter, the reducing sugar increased till the preceding time that the leaf-fall took place, but in winter decreased gradually and in the budding period decreased again remarkably.
