In experiments the thermal resistance of the fungi that were cultured on the potato decoction agar and within the test blocks of Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. DON) and Akamatsu (Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) were tested. The results are showed in Fig.1-Fig.4 and summarized as follows. 1. The thermal resistance is greater under dry condition than under wet condition and seems to decrease with increase the duration of times and rising temperatures. 2. Roughly speaking Lenzites trabea seems to have the greatest thermal resistance, gradully lessing Lenzites abietina followed by Lenzites subferruginea. 3. The thermal death time of Lenzites abietina on the potato decoction agar under wet condition seems to fall within the limits of about 30 minutes at 50℃., 20 minutes at 60℃., 15 minutes at 70℃ and 5 minutes at 80℃.; that of Lenzites subferruginea 30~60 minutes at 50℃., 30 minutes at 60℃., 15 minutes at 70℃. and 5 minutes at 80℃.; and that of Lenzites trabea 60 minutes at 50℃., 30 minutes at 60℃., 15 minutes at 70℃. and 5~10 minutes at 80℃.. 4. In the case of dry condition the thermal death time of Lenzites abietina seems to fall within the limits of about 30~60 mimutes at 60℃., 30 minutes at 70℃. and 15 minutes at 80℃.; that ot Lenzites subferruginea and Lenzites trabea 60 minutes at 60℃., 30~60 minutes at 70℃. and 15~20 minutes at 80℃.. 5. The thermal death time of Lenzites abielina within the block of Gryptomeria japonica under wet condition seems to fall within the limits of about 300 minutes at 50℃., 240 minutes at 60℃., 180 minutes at 70℃. and 120~180 minutes at 80℃.; that of Lenzites subferruginea 300 minutes at 60℃., 240 minutes at 70℃. and 120~180 minutes at 80℃.; and that of Lenzites tratbea 300 minutes at 60℃., 180~240 minutes at 70℃. and 120~180 minutes at 80℃.. Lenzites abietina within the block of Pinus densiflora fall within the limits of about 300 mimutes at 50℃., 240 minutes at 60℃., 120~180 minutes at 70℃. and 90~120 minutes at 80℃.; that of Lenzites subferruginea 240 minutes at 60℃., 180 minutes at 70℃. and 120~180 minutes at 80℃.; and that of Lenzites trabea 210~300 minutes at 60℃., 180 minutes at 70℃. and 120~180 minutes at 80℃.. 6. In the case of dry condition the thermal death time of Lenzites abietina within the block of Cryptomeria japonica seems to fall within the limits of about 72~96 hours at 70℃ and 48~72 hours at 80℃.; that of Lenzites subferruginea and Lenzites trabea 96 hours at 70℃. and 48~72 hours at 80℃..
