If it should occur heavy level, forests will be damaged by ice's weight. There are few study about glaze phenomena, therefore its nature have not been understanded minutely. According to our study, heavy glaze phenomena had occurred about every ten years, and it had recorded more in Nagano prefecture. On February 26, 1989, one glaze phenomenon occurred at central district of Nagano prefecture, gave hevey damages to extensive forests and the others. Forests damaged area were 2,220 ha, and the sum of damage were about 3,700 million yen. When glaze was occuring, inversion layar of temprature between +2 and -2℃ existed in layer from 900 to 700 mb over central district of Japan. We understand that raindrops in upper part of inversion layer were supercooled in down part and lower layer of this inversion layer, then glaze occured. Study areas are Mochizuki town, Tateshina town, Nagato town, and Wada village, which had be gaved heavy damages espesialy. We compared character (forest and site conditions) of all forests to damage forests by data base on parsonal computer, that composed the electorotype forsets resources information (fall within the jurisdiction of Nagano prefecture Forest section) and damage forests reperts. We have next results after these studys. 1) Forest damages by glaze occured from 650 to 1,650 meters above sea level. 2) Damage was relatetd to tree species, forest age, above sea level, direction of sloop, and angle of sloop. 3) Manmade forests of Japanese red-pine (Pinus densiflora) and Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) were damaged easily, and naturaly forests of hardwood were damaged difficulty. 4) V and VI age class forests were damaged easily than other age class, and age class of above XII were damaged difficult. 5) The Northeast and the East slopes were damaged easily than other slopes. 6) Angle of slopes from 14 to 22 degrees were damaged easily than other slopes. This report intend to arrange basic data of forest damages by glaze, therefor we didn't ditailed analysis, for example multivariate analysis. We'll report on next chance., Article, 信州大学農学部演習林報告 29: 25-96(1992)}, pages = {25--96}, title = {雨氷現象による森林被害に関する2,3の考察 : 1989年2月26日長野県東信地区で発生しあ森林被害のデータベース}, volume = {29}, year = {1992} }
