 note = {This study aims to find photoperiodism of Sciadopitys verticillata, and to apply this photoperiodism for nursery practice of this species. Sciadopitys verticillata is one of the valuable trees for landscape planting. But this tree grows so slowly during the young stage, that sometimes suffer easily from damping-off. Forcing culture of this tree during young stage is an important problem for nursery practice. The examination of light culture of Sciadopitys verticillata was carried under conditions of 24 hours lightening, using facilities showing Fig.1 and 2. The growth of Sciadopitys verticillata in the first year is shown in Fig.3, in the 3rd to 5th years is shown in Fig.4. Each set of data shows that the growth of Sciadopitys verticillata in the light culture stand is about 2 times faster than in the control stand. Therefore the period of cultivation of Sciadopitys verticillata is possible to be shortened by using light culture about half the time of normal nursery practice period., Article, 信州大学農学部演習林報告 21: 105-111(1984)},
