For example, Ruskin, between 1843-1860, discussed with modern painters their landscape representations. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the concept Landscape. Landscape is a total outdoor space perception and is perceived in the context of the spatial relationship between man and his external world. Man recieves impressions from the landscape form, images and makes associations with it. On the other hand, landscape is percieved as the composition of various classifications of elements, and knowledge of the landscape elements and their compositions comprise its geographical cognition. Therefore, landscape perception is caused by the image and the reflection from the external world. The concept Landscape may be expressed schematically as the relation between subject and object, and between man's consciousness and the external world. Landscape perception is that which makes the spatial relationship between two dimensions and three dimensions, and between the distant and near viewpoints. The landscape prospect is that which forms the compositional relation between the whole and the parts, and between the whole (macro-scale) and the details(micro-scale). Landscape consciousness establishes the cognitional connection between form and function, and between outside and inside. The landscape perception is established by the synthesis of these relations. The total relationship between man and his external world is the life environment. Man can choose the positions for the landscape perception within the life environment. The relation between the life environment and these positions may be said to be the relation the whole and the parts. Taken in perspective, landscape perception has a spatial structure which comprises front, perpendicularity, horizon and movement. These spatial structure frames are transformed into life experiences through the medium of kinetic muscular sensations., Article, 信州大学農学部演習林報告 18: 25-49(1981)}, pages = {25--49}, title = {風景概念の論理的構造に関する考察(I)}, volume = {18}, year = {1981} }
