The brains obtained from the various states of the pupae were fixed with neutralized formalin solution and stained with Gomori's chrome-haematoxyline-phloxin or with paraldehyde-fuchsin. Structural changes of the cells corresponding to the state of the diapausing or developing pupae were observed in the phloxinophilic medial neurosecretory cells of the pars intercerebralis.
