The crystal growth was conducted by heating mixtures at 1100℃ for 10h, followed by cooling to 400℃ at a rate of 5℃h⁻¹. Prismatic crystals of Fe₂TiO₅ were grown from PbO・V₂O₅ and 2PbO・V₂O₅ luxes. The obtained Fe₂TiO₅ crystals were dark brown in color and had a metallic luster. The crystal sizes were dependent on the flux composition and solute content in mixture. The crystals up to 10.2×1.8 mm in size were grown from the high-temperature solution containing 20 mol% solute (Fe₂TiO₅) and 80 mol% flux (PbO・V₂O₅). The crystals grown from PbO・V₂O₅ flux had the form of eight-sided prism {100}, {010}, and {210} with end faces {001}. Rectangular prismatic crystals grown from 2PbO・V₂O₅ flux were bounded by {100}, {010}, and{101} faces. The lattice constants of grown crystals were a=9.74±0,03 Å, b=9.98±0.01 Å, and c=3.72±0,01 Å. The crystals had a density of 4.42±0.02 gcm⁻³. It was found that PbO・V₂O₅ was a suitable flux to grow Fe₂TiO₅ crystals. No crystals of Fe₂TiO₅ were grown in PbO・V₂O₅ flux., Article, 信州大学工学部紀要 74: 43-48 (1994)}, pages = {43--48}, title = {Fe₂TiO₅ 結晶の PbO-V₂O₅ フラックス育成}, volume = {74}, year = {1994} }
