 note = {The problem of the application and the effectiveness of parallel dikes is studied by the author in this paper. He researches the mechanism of a flow influenced by a parallel dike which is set up along the center line in a laboratorial channel. He proves, in the prevention from disasters, a parallel dike has an effective mechanism to fix a water course by making a sort of meandering flows and to decrease the scour at the base of a revetment. He also proves that this effectiveness will be best when any space of the parallel dikes is be filled; the form of separation levee is made up. Thus, when it is applied to a new method of river works of the widening of low water channel in the lower part of large rivers, the separation levee will be very useful for keeping a channel stable. And, he shows several concrete examples to utilize it for not only a flood control but also the improvement of water resources and the redevelopment of towns., Article, 信州大学工学部紀要 26: 171-196 (1969)},
