A cylindrical rod in linear differeantial transformer and a circular shaped or semi-toroidal core in angular displacement transducer form the opened magnetic path, and naturally self-demagnetizing force exists in these cores. The effect of the self-demagnetizing force and the demagnetizing factor at the circular shaped core in the angular displacement transducer has not yet been discussed up to the present. Empirical formulae on the self-demag-netizing force and the demagnetizing factor at the circular shaped core are described in this paper. The comparatively small value between 1.0 and 12.0 was selected as a dimensional ratio from the practical demands. It has become clear that the value of the demagnetizing factors at the circular shaped cores are some twenty or thirty per cent smaller than that of the cylindrical rods obtained by R. M. Bozorth and some others. Especially, the demagnetizing factor of the core with air gap angle of 10 degrees at the center of the ring core is about fifty per cent smaller than that of the cylindrical rod for same dimensional ratio. It is well-known that the demagnetizing factor, ν, of the ring core with air gap of angle, θg, at the center of the ring core is given simply by ν = θg/360, if θg is in degrees. For the circular shaped core, however, which has comparatively small value of the dimensional ratio, the above equation except a few angle θg is not obtained the satisfactory coincidence with an experimental results.
