Zeiss U. M. M. as a standard, their special character which has been hitherto neglected has been clarified. And the chief results which have been obtained by this investigation are as follows: (1) The special character of follow-up accuracy of this mechanical microcomparator is not irregular as it was hitherto considered to be, and it can be explained theoretically enough by the error which is caused by the back lash and the magnifying ratio. (2) The accuracy test of this mechanical micro-comparator has to be done by the above mentioned method instead of those using the block gauge as a standard.
