 note = {Though the various studies on the chopper amplifier (the contact modulated amplifier) have been reported, but those on the chopper itself are not so many. In the formers, the chopping action is assumed to be an ideal ON - OFF action. This paper deals with chopping action itself. First, the conversion efficiency on the function of contact rate and its asymetricity is formulated, and then the useful and convenient nomograph of the conversion efficiency, contact rate, and its asymetricity is plotted. With this nomograph, the numerical design data of the chopper can be readily determined, and this is illustrated by an example. From the consideration of the traverse time between the chopper contacts, the phenomena of chopper unstable action which consist of imperfect contact, chattering, and fluctuation between B. B.
