In such cases, it is neccessary to consider the outside displacements to the frame plane together with displacements in the frame plane. But their stresses are conventionally calculated in neglecting the effects of these outside displacements in the practical design. Then the writer fears that this conventional method of analysis is to lead errorneous results. The writer has tried to analyse these frames exactly by taking the deflections of the members in all directions into consideration. The fundamental formulas are referred to the slope-deflection formulas, and the method of analysis is shown by giving illustrative examples.
