If it is not the case, the lateral vibrations will usually be coupled with torsional vibrations. This paper deals with the natural vibrations of beams in which the shear-center axis is not collinear with the centroidal axis. Fundamental expressions are derived from energy considerations which, in turn, are based upon assumed normal elastic deflection curves in bending and torsion. The Rayleigh-Ritz method is employed to determine the natural circular frequencies.
