The reaction of a Diels -Alder adduct 1 of cyclopentadiene and maleic anhydride with disiloxane in the presence of Pt(0) catalyst gave 2 as a mixture with other reaction products. On the other hand, the similar reaction using trisiloxane provided the corresponding dianhydride 3 in 30 % yield. The reaction of a cyclopentadienyl anion with bis(chlorodimethylsilyl)ethane followed by hydrogenation gave the dianhydride 4 containing two Silicone atoms.
