In recent years, the rapid development of computer technology makes it possible to offer an image-based inspection system alternative to human visions. There have been many experimental studies of concerning this topic over the Last decades. By using image analysis and Fourier transform, we found that the peak width on the power spectrum estimated from digital image of the fabric surface was related to the fabric quality. Namely, the spectra peak width can be regarded as a quality indicator for fabric texture. Based on this method, we have developed an on-Line monitoring system for fabric appearance.
