Qinghai.Tibetan plateau is the broadest and highest altitude in the world. Compared to other high-altitudu areas, such as Himalaya .and Andes, theaccessto this field work area is easier,i n terms of not only the .distance but the friendly cooperation of Chinese doctors. .In Xining,t here are High. altitude Medical Scientific Research Insttute, Medical ellege and Hospitals specialized in or interested to the high al ti tude medicine. As Qne of the modernization policies, this area is being developed extensively. Qinghai, .which means blue sea, really has a beautiful blue lake at around 3,000 m above sea l.evel,w here high-al titude flowers are in full bloom in summertime. From there, further routes lead to the higher peaks. As Dr Zhang Yian-Bo stated, the route ωthe hinterland peaks seems to be a corridor to the infinite cosmos. The 2nd High-altitude MedicineSymposium was held in Au gust,1985. Some topics will be introduced.
