As two domestic drosophilid species (D. melanogaster and D. busckii) are strongly connected with garbage and leavings\uff0ct hese two species were adopted as the indicator species of pollution by human life and activities. Although these species were not col1ected or very rare at three ponds (Nagaike\uff0cM isumaike and Shibuike)\uff0cth ey weIie abundant at remaining four ponds (Biwaike\uff0cl chinuma\uff0cM aruike and Kidoike). From this result it is allowed to conclude that the latter four ponds are polluted by human life and activities\uff0c but the former three ponds are not so. Hotels\uff0ci nns and rental boat shops are seen near Biwaike\uff0cM aruike and Kidoile\uff0cso that many tourists and hikers take a rest near these ponds in summer. As drainage and garbage\uff0c in addition to picnic leavings of hikers\uff0cf lowed into these ponds from these hotels and inns\uff0c abundance of the indicator species would be due to these factors. On the other hand\uff0cth e former three ponds are surrounded by natural forests\uff0ca nd hotels and inns are not seen near these ponds\uff0cth ough two lodges are seen near Nagaike.
