Language consists of sounds and conceptual meanings. But in language musical elements are subsidiary to conceptual meanings. And this conceptual character of language is one of the greatest obstacles which literary writers must overcome. Hence figurative expressions-metaphors, images, and allegories are required. These symbolic expressions make meanings in language intuitive, vivid and intensive. And we can say successful symbols only come from the combination of the general and the individual in meaning.
