As a result, the midges were found to be dominated by three taxa, Cricotopus, Paratrichocladius rufiventris and Tanytarsus oyamai at two filtration plants in the center of Honshu Island. On the other hand, in the Sakishima Islands, the most abundant species was Polypedilum nubifer, which was also collected on Honshu Island. In addition, we recorded two chironomid species from the Sakishima
