This paper proposes a method of partial polishing of R-grooves using masking tape, and examines the influence of the combination of groove radius R and ferromagnetic particle radius r on polishing characteristics. Experimental results showed that superior finishing surfaces can be acquired when particle radius r is shorter than groove radius R and the ratio of r to R is closer to 1.0. This paper also proposes a dividing polishing method for taper R-grooves, which enables all internal surfaces to be finished with almost the same surface roughness.
