"日本語談話には、談話種変換とも呼ぶべき表現法が認められる。談話種変換とは、たとえば、弁解ができない状況下に、//相談//という談話種をとって、そこに表現内容を埋め込んで表現するような表現法のことである。蒲谷宏、川口義一、坂本惠氏が、ていねいさの原理にそって提唱した「あたかも表現」と原理的に相通するが、談話種変換は、さらに広く日本語談話の基本となる表現法を形成していると本論では捉える。 \u003cbr/\u003e談話種変換が表現法として成立するのは、日本語談話が、言語形式を一種の指標として機能させる「指標型言語」と呼ぶべき特徴を有していることによると考える。日本語談話の産出理解は、できるだけ事実と言語表現を１対１に対応させようとする使用態度ではなく、〔事態〕{場面意識}
