The patient was a 49-year-old woman, who was transported to our hospital after having sustained injury during a traffic accident. CT scans led to a diagnosis of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the thoracic aorta,bilateral costal fracture,hemopneumothorax,lung contusion and pelvic fracture.Upon arrival, the patient was in shock.Thoracic drainage improved her respiration and stabilized circulation.Considering her general condition and the possibility of bleeding from the injured site due to the treatment team’s use of heparin, we decided to perform elective surgery for traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the thoracic aorta. The patient thus underwent surgery(vascular reconstruction with prosthesis)under partial extracorporeal circulation four months after injury. The postoperative course was uneventful.
