About 80% of 79 students participated, positively evaluated their experiences in role playing as useful to their clinical practice, with 20% claiming negatively as not useful. An overall result suggested the usefulness of role playing as a method to enhance students' general readiness to their clinical practice. As students with negative responses were found to have experience only as spectators in a role playing session, further inquiries were needed to clarify students' various responses in terms of its dynamic structure as a learning experience. We pointed out a new dimension of role playing as a unique teaching method to enhance students' self initiated spontaneous responses as bases for learning through interpersonal experiences in total nursing processes. The emphasis of `here and now' thoughts and behaviors in role playing seemed to facilitate various students' role performance in their clinical practice. Key issues for developing effective role playing scenes are teachers' intervention skills to facilitate self-initiated mutual learning experiences among participants and to provoke thier realistic and sensitive responses to on-going role playing processes., Article, 紀要 24: 15-29(1999)}, pages = {15--29}, title = {看護過程を学ぶ教育技法としてのロールプレイングの意義と課題}, volume = {24}, year = {1999} }
