The patients were classified into three groups (I, II, III) according to the degree of physical disability at the admission to a hospital. In the I and II groups, fourth-fifth degree of the Brunnstrom-stage in the lower limbs, the treatment of the OT was started within two or three days on the average. In the III group, first-third degree of the Brunnstrom-stage in the upper and lower limbs, the same treatment as above was started five days after the attack of stroke. The training in the activity of daily living (ADL) was carried out at the OT department of hospital in the I and II, and at the hospital ward in the IIIgroup. The period of hospitalization in the I and II groups were about a half to one month, and that of the III group was about three months. Twenty five cases who finished the early treatment of the OT were appropriate to home care. It was concluded from our early treatment of the OT that the fast introduction of the OT produced the expected effect for I and II groups in the short hospitalization, and the beginning time of the OT should be decided according to the severity of stroke for patients with an advanced dysfunction., Article, 紀要 21: 19-26(1996)}, pages = {19--26}, title = {脳卒中患者に対する早期作業療法の実際}, volume = {21}, year = {1996} }
