After the birth of a baby, maternal affection develops through actual interactions between mother and child. Recently we have conducted a survey to clarify the image of mothers in the stage of child -rearing. The method employed was the sentence completion test (SCT), which had been reported in our Treatises and Studies in 1988, and six areas and 19 items were covered. The survey was made on 90 mothers nursing 4 to 5 month old babies, of which 38 were primiparae and 52 multiparae. In the relationship between mothers and their children, most reactions were positive, expressing pleasure, joy and happiness. In the family relationships, We observed increased spiritual stability reflected in the realization of the greatness of mother, thanks for the gentleness of husband, etc. On the other hand, there were some negative reactions, which were seen in the sense of inadequacy as a mother or irretation about the absence of understanding from husband. These revealed that the psychology of mothers who are nursing their babies is characterized by constant worries, but at the same time, strong will power to carry on. Yet, because of the weekness that can sometimes lead to a nervous breakdown, the mothers engaged in baby care, we believe, are in need of external support., Article, 紀要 17: 29-44(1992)}, pages = {29--44}, title = {育児期における母親像の追究}, volume = {17}, year = {1992} }
