However, much subcutaneous fat has accumulated on soft lower abdominal wall. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of self-massage care for diminishing subcutaneous fat in puerperium. In general, the recovery of body weight is significant, but the amount of fat shows no significant difference from the 1st day of puerperium to the 30th day. We recommended 11women in puerperium to do self-massage care. We measured weight, abdominal girth, subcutaneous fat of umbilical region and lumbar region of 28 women (17 as control) on the 1st day of puerperium and the 30th day. There was a significant difference in weight (2.7 kg versus 1.4 kg), but no difference in subcutaneous fat (umbilical region 1.8 mm versus 1.1 mm). Women have great and enthusiastic concerns for their body proportion. We are planning further careful evaluation of this self-massage care for routine clinical use., Article, 紀要 16(2): 23-30(1991)}, pages = {23--30}, title = {産褥ケアにおける腹部マッサージの試み}, volume = {16}, year = {1991} }
