The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of independence among IDDM children as the introductory research for an effective teaching. The DTI was administered to fifteen children who participated in the five days educational summer camping for IDDM. The total score of 10 components of the DTI was plotted on the percentile profile. It was found that 7 children out of 15 were in extremely low percentile (below 20), which indicated the strong dependent tendency in their general behavior. Specifically, such components as subjectivity, judgement and originality were very low on the percentile. It was observed that these children could not be punctual in their daily programs. They also had poor eating habits : for example, not taking balanced meals as controlled for diabetics. The following considerations were suggested to help the IDDM children develop their independence : 1. It is important for the staff to explore and/or establish the adequate staff-child relationship 2. It is essential to develop the effective teaching methods and materials for the education of IDDM. 3. It is necessary to accumulate more case studies to the individual guidance programs for the reinforcement of the independence., Article, 紀要 14(2): 109-114(1989)}, pages = {109--114}, title = {インスリン依存性糖尿病児の行動特性(第2報) : 自主性診断検査から見た自主性の問題点}, volume = {14}, year = {1989} }
