| 内容記述 | The native Kiso horse of Japan may be afford poor quality feeds. Little information is available that describes the digestion of nutrients in the Kiso horse and its requirement. Therefore, a digestion study trial was conducted on the horse. The experiment was performed on a stallion and a gelding, both 3 year old Kiso horses. Water was available ad libitum from a water bowl. The adjustment period was 7 days and the preliminary period was 7 days. The horses were given a combination of rice straw 1,200g, hay (timothy) 3,000g and wheat bran 1,200g, 3 times a day. Total fecal samples were collected for 7 days alternately in day and night. Analytical samples of feces were dried in a forceair oven at 60℃ and ground through a 1mm screen in a Wiley mill. Analysis of the aproximate components of feeds and feces was conducted according to the usual method. Chemical compositions and intake of feeds are shown in Table 1. Apparent digestibility of nutrient are shown Table 2 (a stallion) and Table 3 (a gelding). Apparent digestibility (%) of nutrients as follows: crude protein 62, ether extract 38, NFE 49.5, crude fiber 32. The digestible crude protein was 5.3. The total digestible nutrients for them was 36. 9. The results of experiments suggest that the Kiso horse digestive tract would accept the lower starch value and the total digestible nutrients. | |||||||
