内容記述 | Some species of Gentiana including G. triflora are recently cultivated for cut flowers in cool regions of Japan. The propagation of them is usually taken place by seed instead of division, but the germination of seed has some difficulties. In this study, we concerned with the conditions of seed germination of Gentiana traflora and some species of Gentiana. Although G. triflora seeds were found to be viable by low temperature or gibberellin treatment, they scarcely germinated in 360 days after harvest. In G. triflora seed, the optimum temperature was about 20℃, and the average number of days to germination at that temperature was 10.2. At 10℃, it scarcely germinated. In G. cruciata, G. gracilipes, G. lagodechiana and G. pannonica seeds, the optimum temperature were 18°C, and in G. aetissoni, G. septemfida and G. wutarensis seeds, 23℃. They did not germinate at 8℃ excepting G. lagodechiana. Minimum average number of days to germination were obtained at 23℃ in G. aetissoni, G. cruciata, G. gracilipes, G. lagodechiana, G. pannonica and G. septemfida, and at 18℃ in G. wutarensis. Gibberellin treatment (25~200 ppm dipping for 24 hrs) or low temperature treatment (wet seed kept at 2℃ for 2-8 weeks) was effective for germination of Ga triflora seed which scarcely germinated with no treatment. The effect of gibberellin increased with concentration. Combination treatment with low temperature and gibberellin was most effective. However in plactice, the combination treatment would not be necessary, but only treatment with gibberellin of 100~200ppm dipping for 24hrs. would be recommended. In G. septemfida, 4~6 weeks of low temperature treatment increased germination. The effect of gibberellin treatment (50ppm) was not so clear in this species. Gentiana triflora seeds treated with low temperature or gibberellin germinated more in lighting with fluorescent lamp (1080 lux) than darkness. High light intensity (1080 lux) or continuous lighting was more effective than low light intensity (below flux) or one day lighting. In G. aetissoni and G. cruciata seeds, no difference of germination percentage was observed in lighting and darkness. On the other hand, G. tibetica seed germinated in lighting but never in darkness, both in old and in fresh seeds. | |||||
