内容記述 In recent years it is found in the various district of this country that the garden trees are planted in the inferior subsoil which was subjected to cutting of surfase soil. So the relationships between texture of soil, nutrient content in soil and the growth of the garden tree have been studied by using one year seedlings of Himarayan Cedar (Cedrus deodara Loud.) (as a model). In order to prepare the various texture and nutrient content of soil samples, A, B layer of BlD-E type soil (called Shinshu loam) and sand were mixed as shown in Table I, and then fertilized. The experimental results are summerized as follows. 1. For convenience in explanation of the experimental results, the textures were divided into two main groups: clayey soils (a-e) and sandy soils (f-i). a. A……Clay loam b. A:B (7:3)……〃 c. A:B (5:5)……Light clay d. A:B (3:7)……〃 e. B……〃 f. B:S (7:3)……Sandy clay loam g. B:S (5:5)……Sand h. B:S (3:7)……〃 i. A:B:S (1:1:1)…Sandy loam remarks A ……A layer, B ……B layer, S ……Sand 2. The nutrient contents and pH values of the soil samples were shown in Table II. The sandy soil group showed higher pH value, less total nitrogen content and more 0.2 N HCl soluble phosphorus content than the clayey soil group. 0.2 N HCl soluble potassium content of two soil groups increased with the increase of mixed ratio of A layer or sand. 3. The growth of Himarayan Cedar seedlings was shown in Table III, and Fig. I and II. The sandy soil group showed more seedling number, longer top and root length and heavier air-dried weight than the clayey soil group. Generally speaking, the growth of the seedling in the sandy soil group was superior to that of the clayey soil group. Moreover, the fertilizer efficiency was recognized remarkably in the sandy soil group. The growth of the seedling in plot (e) was slightly inferior to that of the sandy soil group, but was not always inferior compared with the other clayey soils. From the fact above-mentioned, it may be seen that soil dressing and suitable fertilization are very efficient in case, when Himarayan Cedar is planted in the inferior subsoil. If both operations are impossible at the same time, fertilization alon is useful for the growth.
