"本稿では、英語教育と第二言語獲得研究の連携の可能性を探る1つの具体的な試案として、『英文読解（English Reading Comprehension）に対する第二言語獲得研究（言語心理学的アプローチ）』の実験を報告する。英語教育研究のトピックの1つに、英語学習者の読解力があり、英文読解をいかにして指導すれば英語学習者の読解力が向上するのかが研究されている。しかしながら、そもそも英文読解を苦手とする英語学習者がなぜ英文読解を苦手としているのかという根本の原因を解明しない限り、教育効果をもたらす有効な指導は望めない。本稿は、英語学習者による英文読解の困難の原因の一つを、言語心理学アプローチによる実験により明らかにした。実験結果により、英文読解の速度と語彙情報の使用効率に強い相関があることが判明し、このことは英文読解に困難を示す英語学習者らは、単語の意味情報（語彙意味情報）を効率的に使うことができていないことを示している。これが英文読解の速度を下げ、理解度を下げる要因となる。この実験により第二言語獲得研究が英語教育に貢献できることが具体的に示された。",
