This is an attempt in terms of social conditions, to make a study of what kind of people injured skiers are consist of, how they have participated in ski, how they have committed to ski, how accidents occurred, what are surrounding concomitants. The writer intends to clarify these problems characteristic of general skiing, and to offer his remedial measures for them. Sprains occupy first place in ski accidents ; incised wounds and contused wounds come next, followed by fractures, parts of injuries are chiefly found in lower limbs. The larger proportion of the injured are young people, especially working youths who are living in large cities, short of both ski experience and techniques. Accidents are mainly due to insufficience of ski techniques, so that the fundamental remedial measures for ski accidents are to promote mastery of ski techniques, but to do so it is necesary to take repeated schoolings. In case of accidents it often happens that there are neither instructors nor leaders on the scene. It is desirable, therefore, to ski in a group led by them. To ski in such a group is an effective way to prevent personal ski accidents and to raise ski morals. Fatigue and insufficience of exercise are inegligible factor of accidents. Most graduates take night trains or similar facilities for ski, and this has much to do wi th their structure of life, hence one has to take into consideration the length of their siding hours. Basic schoolings deserve repeti tion, and the injured were desirous of taking lessons. In view of ski experiences of the injured, communi ty ski instructions playa pivotal part in reference to ski schoolings. Accordingly the development and expansion of community ski instructions are essential. It is to be considered how to bridge the gap between school physical education and social life. As for ski grounds, features of ski slope (gaps, obstacles, narrowness), the undifferentiation of places for exercises with those for descent, congestion and development of ski lifts compel skiers to have high techniques ; which makes backgrounds of ski accidents. Therefore the strengthening of safety measures (management, regulation) and the differentiation of ski slopes according to use and purposes are necessary.
