[{"subitem_description": "四阿（あずまや）火山は長野・群馬県の県境に位置し，約80万年前～45万年前にかけて活動した大型の成層火山である．環状に連なる稜線によって囲まれた“四阿カルデラ”と呼ばれる直径3 kmほどの凹地が，地形的な特徴である．このカルデラから流れ出る米子川の上流域には，厚さ150 mに達する溶岩層が作る断崖絶壁が約1 kmも続き，不動滝（ふどうだき）や権現滝（ごんげんだき）をはじめとする落差70～80 mほどの複数の滝が見られる．また，カルデラ内には硫黄鉱床が存在し，1960（昭和35）年まで米子（よなこ）硫黄鉱山として採掘が続けられた．このほか周辺には，中世の山岳修験道に由来をもつ米子不動奥之院（よなこふどうおくのいん）や但唱（たんしょう）上人が木食行を行ったと伝えられる遺跡も存在する．本コースでは，四阿カルデラ，不動滝や権現滝といった成層火山体の開析地形とそれらを構成する火山岩類を観察するとともに，米子硫黄鉱山跡や米子不動奥之院といった人文的景観についても見学する．",
