The authors showed evidence of the usefulness of "Loggbok" for developing "self study planning ability" in Swedish compulsory schools. But, its educational effects have not been examined. Therefore, this study focused on the effects and the problems of the practical use of "Loggbok". The practical use of "Loggbok" was investigated by a questionnaire, class observation and interview. The questionnaire was distributed to three schools, asking the following questions: (1), do pupils have self-monitoring ability? (2), has the "ability to be responsible" been improved? and (3), does "Loggbok" help the incentive for learning? Class observation and interview in Eklanda-skolan focused on the following: (1), the teachers' approaches to prevent "drop out" and to foster a sense of responsibility in pupils, and (2), equality in teacher-pupil relationship. |
