We retrospectively analyzed the long-term follow-up results of 125 patients with malignant glioma (63) glioblastoma (GB) and 62 anaplastic astrocytoma (AA))treated at Shinshu University Hospital. The overall median survival times for GB and AA were both 16 months.In univariate analysis,age,radiation,nitrosourea, weekly administration of interferon βat the outpatient clinic and continuous administration for 5 weeks in hospital, and pre- and postoperative performance status (PS) were prognostic factors in GB patients. Postoperative PS,radiation and nitrosourea were also relevant in the survival of patients with AA.Multivariate analysis showed that the prognostic variables of age,weekly administration of interferon βand radiation were important in patients with GB. |
