内容記述 We studied 26 mothers who had sick and long hospitalized children at S. U. H. These children stayed in H. for 4. 7 months on the average. The longest stayed in H. for one year. Fourteen children never left H. during their admission, Generally, their friends didn't often come to visit and their families came only once a or two weeks. We asked these mothers some questions as follows : 1 ) What influences did sick children receive from H. environments? 2 ) Were they anxious concerning children's growth and development? 3 ) What expectations regarding to nursing care did they have? The larger environmental changes for children were limited spaces for movement, very small circles of playmates, separating from nature, and very little time for study. As a result, children were always irritated or stressful. Their faces presented an appearance of apathy. They regressed to earlier childhood behaviors. On anxieties about children's growth and development, mothers were unable to teach children how to do manythings by themselves. Becauce they were connected to various medical divices, they were unable to walk, run or move naturally. After discharge they couldn't communicate or interact normally with children of their own age. Mothers wanted nurses to play children more frequently and to teach them skills that would be helpful to their growth and development.
