カメラのEXIFファイルの緯度経度情報は外来種分布調査を簡易に行うときに有用である。2012年に外来植物の調査を行い，39種の分布を確認し，ArcGISを利用して分布図を作成したところ，草地でみられる雑草が多く確認された。大正池，ウエストン園地，河童橋周辺において，非常に多くの外来植物が確認され，エゾノギシギシ，ヒメジョオン，シロツメクサ，ムラサキツメクサ，外来タンポポ種群，オランダミミナグサ，カモガヤは横尾まで分布拡大していた。生態系や生物多様性に極めて大きな影響を及ぼす特定外来種もしくは要注意外来種として知られるオオハンゴンソウ，ハリエンジュが大正池周辺で確認されたが，発生地点数は少なく，分布域は限定されていた。分布が集中するエリアを固定カーネル法で推定したところ，ウエストン園地と河童橋周辺でエゾノギシギシおよび外来タンポポ種群の集中班が確認された。GPSポイントデータは外来植物の今後の分布拡大を評価するためのデータベースを構築するとともに，上高地地域の保全活動を進めるために，継続的なモニタリングが必要である。",
