| 内容記述 | 放牧場を有する開放式馬房で，給餌時に飼槽に並ぶ位置を記録して分析を試みた。母系社会を構成している，木曾馬26頭を用い，延べ15回観察を行なった。その結果，各馬の各飼槽に位置する場所はほぼ固定していた。特に年齢の高い馬と若い馬の位置が決まっていた。また，親仔の位置関係も密で，生後1ヵ月齢までが母馬に密着し，3～6ヵ月齢にかけて少しずつ離れて行動するのが観察された。これらのことから，母系群の木曾馬の社会順位も直線的体系であることがうかがえた。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | Positions of Kiso horses at the trough during feeding were analyzed in an open stable on a pasture. Observation was repeated 15 times in total using 26 matrilineal Kiso horses of various ages including foals. It was found that each horse occupied almost always the same position at the trough. Especially, the positions of older mares and female juveniles were fixed (Table 2, 4). Mares and their foals occupied adjacent positions. Until 1 month after birth, foals stayed very close to their mares and began to increase the social distance from 3 to 6 months of age (Table 3). These findings suggested that the social dominance of dam-produced Kiso horses reflected a linear hierarchy. | |||||||
