| 内容記述 | 本稿では、北海道の美瑛町と小樽市の二事例を取り上げ、地域の知名度と価値的なイメージがどのようにして形成されるかを取り上げる。美瑛町は、かつては知名度の低い場所であった。また、小樽には「斜陽の街」というマイナスのイメージがっきまとっていた。しかし、1980年代の終わり頃から、美瑛は「丘の街」として、小樽は「運河と硝子細工の街」として知られるようになり、多くの観光客を集めるようになった。この2つの地域において生じた出来事とその意図せざる結果について、プロセスを追いながら地域のブランド化が達成されるために必要な諸条件(特に視覚的シンボルの重要性)と諸課題について論じる。 / In this essay, I take two cases of place branding and consider how positive images of places are created. Biei is a small town in Hokkaido, situated in farm areas, but formerly few people knew Biei. But it is now well-known as the Town of Hills and many tourists visit to Biei. Otaru was known as an example of sunset city, but now is well-known as the City of Canals and Glassblowing and a tourist spot. I analyze the process of changing or creating the images of them, and indicate the importance of visual symbols (icons) witch visualize and typify the positive elements of those places. | |||||||
