Special attention is paid to the structural characteristics and the conditions for formig a construction with causative gei. I point out that the existence of a direct object of gei is indispensable for this construction, and that it has to exist before an act, represented by a verb in the construction concerned, is performed. Also, when gei has no direct object, by grammatical restrictions, the structure [verb+noun] is placed immediately before the construction to fill the place of the direct object of gei. I also present an original analysis of the structure of sentences with the construction concerned, e. g. (倒茶給他喝)=(倒茶給他)+(給也喝茶).
