Judging from the current state of affairs, it might be better for the Japanese college students to take more English classes in order to improve their ability in English, but considering the requirements necessary to complete their curriculum, they find it harder to learn more English in classroom than they do now because of the time constraint. In this paper we will introduce the modular-style teaching materials which are offered on the e-learning system called e-Alps platform we are using at Shinshu University and argue that they enable the students to learn English outside classroom in order to overcome the problem of limited learning hours in English classroom. These materials are posted on e-Alps and our students can download them freely.
